John and Marlena leave with a wimper

This past Friday, Jan 23, 2008, John and Marlena Black left Salem. As we all know by now, last fall NBC renewed Days lease on life for another 18 months. With that renewal came a 40% slash in their budget. That's a big slash and major changes obviously had to be made. Almost immediately a major repercussion was felt. Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn became the casualty and were released from their contracts.

It's pretty amazing isn't it. Here we are coming up on two years after Matt and Missy and Jack and Jennifer have left Salem and our little site here devoted to them all is still going strong. We're averaging about 50 posts a day. Pretty good when our couple hasn't even been seen or have any news roaming about them for a couple years.

The last year or more Days of Our Lives has really had some bad times back stage. Do I have any special or inside knowledge of this... What an uplifting and disappointing week this was on Days of Our Lives.

It was a pleasure to see Judi Evans again, this time as Adrienne. How refreshing to have Adrienne and not Bonnie. Many Kudos to Judi Evans for changing characters totally and leaving out any and all traces of Bonnie. THANK YOU JUDI !!!!!

So the other week I open up the Soap Opera Digest to read the latest way Ken Corday plans to Save Days. Every year he has a new plan. Every year he falls flat on his face. The ratings continue to erode, the fans continue to clamour to be listened to. Same old Same old. Mr. Corday in his attempt to save face for not only himself but his new headwriter Hogan Sheffer, did something completely implausible.
